Founded in 1991 in Cluj-Napoca, the band ALTAR established itself from its very first live appearances as one of the most prodigious Romanian rock bands, promoters of music with attitude in Romania, having a strong social impact and connection with the audience thanks to their unique musical concept, the message they promoted, and their effervescent stage performances.
ALTAR has been repeatedly named the best Romanian rock band, writing the most important chapter in the history of Romania’s rock scene during the ’90s.
Alongside Compact, Holograf, Iris, Phoenix, and Cargo, ALTAR is among the ranks of iconic bands, with over 34 years of continuous activity at the forefront of Romanian rock, still remaining one of the most appreciated and beloved rock bands in Romania.
